EXTRA ~ CAPTAIN'S BLOG
Hi everyone, my name is Freddie Mason and I play Sir Francis Drake in Pirates. As we relaunch our website I am going to keep a diary of what's going on, sort of like a Captains Log, just to give you a little insight of what goes on during rehearsals and behind the scenes. Scroll down to view previous entries.

Hi all! Sorry for the delay but we've been really busy moving the Captains Blog over to it's new home on MySpace! Due to it's popularity we've decided to let you all get more involved by sending in messages, pictures, and asking questions. The new page can be found at uk.myspace.com/piratesadventure and I promise it will be updated more often, certainly for the next few weeks (read the first blog on the new site to find out why I have a bit more free time at the moment!!)

I've already added some photo's from the last few seasons here at Pirates, and I'll be adding more soon. If you've got a MySpace page then come and say hello and leave a message, and if you haven't then sign up today! See you all there!

8th May
As you all know the Saturday just gone (May 5th) was the Pirates Charity Premiere and it went amazingly well! Not just the show but on every aspect, both the GOSH families and the Celebrities enjoyed the evening and although we are still collecting and counting the money that has been raised for Great Ormand Street Children's Hospital, it is now well over €100,000! A very big thank you to everyone that contributed!

The Gosh families started to arrive on Wednesday the 2nd and although the cast don't get the chance to meet them until the Saturday, the PR's for Pirates - John, Jamie, Aron and Claire - greeted and became good friends with them, going to the hotel they were staying at and having fun with them really! Here is a video clip of Aron being his usual self with Rhianne , who quite rightly thinks he is a nutter!

Before the show started on the Saturday, Mel (Captain Scarlet) and myself were asked to meet and greet the celebs in costume and have photo's with them for the papers and magazines that follow the Premiere, so we went to the Port Adriano Hotel in El Toro which was beautiful! After that all the captains went to the Santa Ponca County club to meet all the celebs and GOSH families as they came in to have their meals and meet each other. Then we went back to Pirates where they had already started to let guests in and the live band 'The Raggle Taggle Gypsies' had started to play, the whole night was unbelievable from start to finish!

The next day while the cast were all probably still in bed nursing hangovers, all of the families went with the Pirates PR's to MarineLand where they all had a good time! Especially Pirate John who took great pleasure in filming a Penguin, I thought it was funny so I'm putting it on here! At about 1pm they all made their way down to Golf Fantasia where some of the cast met them and we all had great fun eating pizza, drinking, playing Crazy Golf and having fun with helium balloons...Hmm?

I'm going to finish now but I would just like to say a big, no a HUGE THANK YOU! to all the people that helped and contributed to the Premiere, but most of all to the GOSH families who make it so much fun and special for us - we're going to miss you all! THANK YOU!!

First of all let me just apologise for being a little late this week, we have been busy getting ready for our Premiere which is this coming Saturday May 5th - but I will talk about that in a minute! The main reason is because I've been waiting for the opportunity to get the video footage I needed!

Over the past few weeks I have noticed that all the cast members do certain things when they are concentrating including me! Most of the time its pulling a funny face. Well as we were rehearsing the skipping one day I noticed Richie (Captain Darling) pulling..... I won't spoil it, watch the clip (click here), I can't look at him in the show anymore! Sorry Richie!!!!

Everything is on track for the Charity Premiere. The last of the tickets are being sold and the Celebs are confirmed, and most importantly the GOSH families will be arriving on the island in the next few days! The celebs include Steve McFadden, Laurie Brett, and Emma Barton from EastEnders, Sharron Davies and Danny Baker - and of course our good friend Nigel Benn Who continuously supports Pirates and enjoys a good sparing session with Jacques Laffite once in a while!

Hi! I would just quickly like to thank everyone for the e-mails they have sent regarding the Captains Blog, its good to know I still have fans!

Now I'm going to tell you about a certain cast member today, we have many nicknames for him (all in good fun), but most I can't mention due to censorship! His name is Stu and he was new to us last year, most of the time he looks like a rabbit in headlights but he does make the cast laugh - even if Martyn our Show Director doesn't know when to laugh or when to cry!

Take a look at this video clip (click here) of him pretending to be Captain Scarlett and decide for yourself!

A quick 'get better soon' to cast members Yves and Marchin. Yves has hurt his back and is walking around like the hunchback of Notre Dame. Marchin our new trampolinist landed badly off the Russian swing and smacked himself in the face with his own knee - consequently he needed to go to hospital for stitches and concussion. Thinking of you boys!

The shows are going well, we've had to add extra nights due to demand over Easter. Once again a big thanks to everyone who has supported us!

Well the first 2 shows are out of the way now and they went very well, both of them were sold out which was great for us, we had a very warm welcome from all the holiday makers and our friends who came to support us. After the show we all went down to Flavours bar where they had put on a buffet for us to celebrate.

Well, since then we have been training and working towards our Charity Premiere which is very exciting for the whole cast and one of the most important events of the year. We have a lot more to do in the build up to it, the cast have more tricks to put into the show and the management team are working hard to fill the theatre and invite the celebrities. The most important part of the event is to organise everything for the GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital) families that will be attending, and make sure that their time with us is very special!

One week to go till the opening night of the show and there is still a lot to do! It always seems like as we come to the last week of rehearsals there is never enough time to do everything, but that is never the case. All the acts in the show are almost ready and we started running through the whole show today!

Over the last few days all of the Captains have been having fun trying new moves - some with success and some without but watching was funny (click here), also we have been working on an exciting new fight scene for the end of the show! The French cast are looking good with the trampoline act being the best and most spectacular act I’ve seen, and when the final act is complete it will blow your mind!

19th March, 2007
Well we are now 2 weeks into rehearsals and everything is going well all the acts are coming together and the new members of the cast are settling in well.

Today we started on the fight scenes and Phil (Sir Henry Morgan) gave the French cast a lesson in how to shout in French, which is a little ironic considering he doesn’t speak French but it did make us all laugh!

Teaching the new Barbarosa has been fun too, I’m not sure he knew what to say the first time I showed him what he would be doing with Fire in the show but he soon got the hang of it
