Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity
For the past 25 years it has been our mission to thrill and entertain every person who enters our theatre in Mallorca, Spain. Every summer over 160,000 people enjoy the show, and over one third are children. They are our most important audience as it is their uninhibited enthusiasm and reaction to the show that creates the magical atmosphere we all relish.
However, many children suffering from serious illness cannot enjoy such simple pleasures in life; it is for this reason that we chose to dedicate our annual Premiére Show to the world renowned Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital (GOSH).
An organisation that treats more than 90,000 patients each year, children who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening illnesses. They receive the best medical care that money can buy, but the NHS funding cannot meet these ever-rising costs, and that's where the Hospital's charity steps in.
With your support, through the Theatres for Theatres appeal which brings together the worlds of performing arts and paediatric medicine, the Hospital have now reached £3.7million towards their £4million target.
The new Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, in which the operating theatres will be housed, is progressing well.
To ensure the new building is as child-friendly as possible, they are looking to incorporate a range of art and design features. One key scheme is the Patient Journey Project which aims to improve their patients' experience as they travel to the operating theatre.
The Project aims to enhance this journey with art and design features along the route to provide a calming distraction. The commission is being undertaken by Jason Bruges studios who will create a series of wall paintings following the building's 'natural world' theme. A number of LCD screens will be incorporated into the artwork, across which moving images of birds and animals will be automatically triggered.
